Friendly Thoughts - 15
by Earl J. Prignitz
I hear so many people proclaiming that they believe every word in the Bible and then they proceed to ignore some of the most basic thoughts that are given there.  For example the verse that says, "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he."  That one is set aside contin- uously to be able to think anything but good thoughts about fellow church members, neighbors and friends.  And spreading those ideas as far and wide as one is capable of.  It is impossible to constantly be thinking and saying evil thoughts of other people and be living in a good frame of reference with oneself and with God.
Whenever the temptation comes to criticize and complain turn your mind to thoughts of love and peace.  It's your mind you can do anything you choose for it to dwell on.  And don't say that isn't part of what that verse is all about, for it most certainly is.  It is imposs- ible to dwell on negative thoughts and end up on the positive side.
Why not give that verse a little more thought and bring it into focus in your mind the next time you are tempted to contmplate those negative thoughts?   You might be surprised what you have the ability to do for yourself just by holding positive thoughts in your mind.  Remember "If you can't say anything good about another human being made in God's own image, don't say anything at all.
How about it?  It's worth your best effort I assure you.
